Bookmarked calling for a general strikeThe 8.Marz – A day without A woman

On January 21st, 2017 approximately 5 million people on the street, bypassed against Donald Trump, and that what he stands for, to demonstrate. Against the patriarchy. Against injustice and worldly sexism. The Hashtag burst #Womensmarch not only in honor of the organizers at the same time seams, it was as if half the world would have painted posters and decided at the same time solidarity against the silence and the noisy protest. Sure to hold together. And to be visible. It quickly became clear that the prevailing mood of the break would mark only a further step on the way to de facto changes, perhaps even a small revolution starting from Washington, a fierce new flood to the already popular fourth corrugated of feminism, which is in turn no longer only for the rights of women, but for human rights in General. Because “women’s rights are human rights”.

And so it was after all, that the women’s March makers already at the beginning of the year 2017 “10 actions for the first 100 days” published and thus underscored that rather should be at its undertaking to a sustainable global movement as merely to an entertaining action of protest. According to Facebook, another item on the agenda is a large-scale general strike under the motto “A Day Without A woman”. As the date of March 8 is called – international women’s day. A world women’s day without women so. What should that look like?

It may sound utopian world all women to move to pause their work for a short time, this project is however by no means impossible. In 1975, about 90% of all Icelandic women, including the future President of Ireland, her work for a day laid down. Flights were, the newspapers were just like most schools, the day after the so-called “Kvennafridagurinn” only half as thick as usual, – the men laughed at first, then they were amazed not bad. And apparently learned to: Island stands today in terms of equality 1 1991 the women strike in Switzerland followed place. “If wife wants everything stops”, it was said at the time. The focus was in both cases mainly fair wages. What will happen this time, is quickly painted: without the contribution of women, it will be very quiet. In the worst case, even the economy collapses. All women and, indeed, to make it clear that we have long not arrived in an equal society, in a world in which enjoy as much respect as their male fellows. Also at economic level. However, not only the gender pay gap will be subject. Also on sexism, racism, discrimination of any kind on the lack of support of single parents and people with disabilities, on the missing equality for the LGBT community and ongoing sexual violence should be made aware. Women’s March said:

“in the spirit of women and their allies coming together for love and liberation, we offer A Day Without A woman. We ask: do businesses support our communities, or do they drain our communities? Do they strive for gender equity, or do they support the policies and leaders that perpetuate oppression?”

in the spirit of women and their allies coming together for love and liberation, we offer A Day Without A woman. We ask: do businesses support our communities, or do they drain our communities? Do they strive for gender equity or do they support the policies and leaders that perpetuate oppression? Do they align with a sustainable environment or do they profit off destruction and steal the futures of our children? We saw what happened when millions of US stood together in January, and now we know that our army of love greatly outnumbers the army of fear, greed and hatred. On March 8th, international women’s day, let’s unite again in our communities for A Day Without A woman. Over the next few weeks we be sharing more wants information on what actions on that day can look like for you.
